Coeur de l’Arquet apartment is located in the heart of the medieval village. This is a rare and sublime Provencal furnished apartment (65 square meters / 700 square feet) with soaring ceilings, a sophisticated and charming ambiance, a newly installed state of the art Chef kitchen, a resort-quality luxurious bathroom, and a serene bedroom dedicated to sweet dreams.
We call our apartment “Coeur de l’Arquet,” honoring the dreamy Arquet Canal which flows between our apartment and the Notre Dame des Anges Church, which is home to 222 angels.
Our spacious apartment is located on the first floor of a building constructed in the year 1700, and is a few steps away from a 12th-century church. Several of the church’s fifteen gargoyles face our living room and bedroom windows.
L’Isle sur la Sorgue is a story-book, open-hearted village, in a vibrant medieval town, in the heart of sunny Provence. Lovingly called ‘The Venice of Provence,” the village has five pristine canal waterways, filled with ducks, geese, and swans.
L’Isle sur la Sorgue has many ancient waterwheels, secret gardens, and a lively bi-weekly outdoor market. The weekly antique market is an astonishing stroll, especially with a pastry in hand from one of the half-dozen nearby bakeries.
Within the intimate center of our village are exuberant wine, cheese, olive, and pastry shops; galleries, museums; cozy restaurants and playful bars. The best is Florian Courreau’s 3rd generation hand crafted chocolatier shop, called La Cour aux Saveurs, blocks away. Close by are 300 showrooms and studios, featuring authentic period antiques and fine art – L’Isle sur la Sorgue’s jewel-box of French art and culture, exceeded only by Paris.
A few blocks away are alluring and extensive hiking trails, parks, and kayaking destinations. Nearby you will also find a bus stop, which can take you to numerous iconic neighboring villages and markets, including Fontaine de Vaucluse, Carpentras, Roussillon and Gordes. A nearby train station opens opportunities to visit enchanting Avignon; the Côte d’Azur; and Paris, Spain or Italy.
